The Road to Oaxaca
Wedding events will take place between the evening of Friday, October 17 and the afternoon of Sunday, October 19. We understand that getting to Oaxaca takes a big commitment of your time and resources. We love and appreciate you for making the journey! See our accommodation recommendations and tour guide here.
Please note: October is a particularly busy time in Oaxaca, as the city comes alive with festivals and cultural events leading up to Día de los Muertos. To secure the best accommodations and flights, we recommend you book your travel well in advance.
By Air— The Oaxaca International Airport (OAX) is the most convenient gateway. Most major cities in the US like Boston, New York, and Denver now have direct flights into Mexico City. From Mexico City, Oaxaca is a quick 1.5 hour flight. Once you land, you can take a 20 minute taxi ride to the city center (Oaxaca Centro).
On the ground— All of the weekend’s festivities will take place in Oaxaca Centro, the historic city center. The accommodations, restaurants, and sightseeing that we have suggested in our Tour Guide all fall within this 2 square mile area of the city that is easy to explore on foot. That being said, there are many taxis available if you prefer to drive, with rides usually costing less than $5 USD.
